Slovakia is the industrially-agrarian country. It has small, but extremely important deposits for national economy of brown coal near Gandlov in the west and Mondri-Camen in the south of the country. Brown coal use as fuel on power stations and in houses, as raw material in chemical industry. From east border the pipelines importing from Russia oil and gas last. In Slovakia are available small deposits of natural gas. In Erzgebirge extraction of iron ore, copper, manganese, magnesite, lead and zinc is conducted. Imported bauxites and nickel ore are processed at mountain-concentrating combines in Jiyar and Sered. The main source of electric power -hydroelectric power stations. They are grouped on the rivers Ondava, Vag, Gornad and Slana. In the industry structural retos are carried out now. In an agriculture third of Slovak grounds is borrowed. On fertile lowlands grow up wheat, barley, sugar beet, corn, on poorer grounds preparation of fodder is conducted. The basic agricultural crops are — rye, oats, flax, potato. In a valley of the river Vag are developed tobaco and fruit growing. Wine growing is developed on slopes of the Carpathians in West-Slovene. In valleys plant large horned livestock and pigs, in mountains — sheeps. There are well-known in Europe mountain resorts, which involve the big number of tourists, basically from the countries of Western Europe. Slovakia exports machines and the equipment, the industrial goods, the consumer industrial goods, production of the chemical industry, raw material.
